Support and Review Guide
XXCam’s core experience uses two devices: one iPhone shoots, while a second device watches in a browser.
Complete test steps
- Connect both devices to the same Wi‑Fi. Alternatively, enable a personal hotspot on either device and join it from the other.
- Open XXCam on the iPhone and allow Camera and Local Network access.
- Tap the status pill in the top-left corner to open the pairing sheet with a QR code and local address.
- Scan the QR code with the second device, or enter the full address in its browser—for example,
http://192.168.1.105:8000/?k=<token>. The token after?k=is required. - The browser displays the iPhone’s live viewfinder. The viewer can change quality, mirror the image, and choose fit or fill.
If only one mobile device is available, open the pairing address in a Mac or PC browser on the same Wi‑Fi. The result is identical.
Why are permissions needed?
Camera: live view and photo capture.
Local Network: direct streaming to a browser on the same Wi‑Fi or hotspot.
Photos: saving captures and showing the latest thumbnail.
Screen Recording: only after the user starts ReplayKit, to show the system Camera app or a third-party camera app.
Why does a full demo need two devices?
XXCam solves the problem of a subject being unable to see their own framing. The iPhone is the camera, and a browser is the independent monitor, so the complete experience naturally uses a second screen. The viewer installs nothing.
Common questions
The address does not open: confirm both devices are on the same local network, Local Network permission is enabled in iOS, and the full address includes the pairing token.
The feed stops after switching apps: the built-in camera view requires XXCam to stay in the foreground. To use the system Camera app or another camera app, start “Broadcast Other Camera Apps” from the pairing sheet.
Does the broadcast create a recording: no. The ReplayKit extension sends screen frames in real time. It does not write a local video or upload the feed to an internet server.
Can the simulator test everything: no. The simulator has no real camera, cellular interface, or ReplayKit broadcast path. Camera, broadcast, and hotspot behavior require a physical device.
Contact the developer
When reporting a problem, include the iPhone model, iOS version, how the two devices are connected, and any error shown on the pairing sheet. Do not send a complete pairing token that is still active.
